Disputes involving children

Many parents manage to agree the arrangements for their children but we are here to help where this has not been possible.

We specialise in helping you resolve issues such as:

  • the amount of time the children will spend with each parent and where the children will have their base
  • when a child’s safety is in issue and emergency court orders are needed
  • whether a child might be taken abroad for a holiday or on a permanent basis
  • where there is disagreement on issues such as the school which a child should attend or about a child’s religious upbringing

We take a child centred approach when advising you, as we believe this enables you to achieve the best outcome for your child.

We will support you in exploring the possibility of an agreement as we appreciate that you and your former partner need to have an ongoing relationship as the children’s parents. In the negotiation process, we will consider whether mediation or a collaborative approach might be constructive.

Mediation Information and Assessment Meetings (MIAMs)

If you wish to make an application to the Court for financial provision you will usually need to attend a Mediation Information and Assessment Meeting (MIAM) with a trained Mediator. We are able to offer this service. For more information, please contact us.
